Oscar Piastri's Winless Streak Continues in 2026 F1 Season
Oscar Piastri has not secured a grand prix victory in over a year, with his last win occurring on August 31, 2025, at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. Despite McLaren's return to form, Piastri has faced challenges throughout the 2026 season, finishing sixth in the recent Dutch GP.
After winning the Dutch Grand Prix, Piastri's performance declined, and he fell to third in the championship standings. He has only achieved podium finishes at Suzuka and Miami this season, while his teammate Lando Norris has excelled, winning multiple races including at the Hungaroring and Zandvoort.
Piastri's difficulties stem from issues in qualifying and race performance, with Norris leading their qualifying match-up significantly. The McLaren MCL40's design has contributed to Piastri's struggles, particularly on low-grip tracks. Recent upgrades have improved McLaren's competitiveness, but Piastri continues to face challenges with rear-tyre degradation and overall car balance.
