Otmar Szafnauer Advises Ferrari to Support Charles Leclerc Amid Challenges
Otmar Szafnauer has advised Ferrari to refrain from intervening with Charles Leclerc during a challenging period, suggesting that the team should support him instead of holding a formal mid-season discussion.
Szafnauer, the former Alpine team principal, shared his views on the High Performance Racing podcast while discussing the current season's dynamics. Ferrari is currently second in the constructors' standings with 307 points, trailing Mercedes by 72 points. In the drivers' standings, Lewis Hamilton is second with 169 points, while Leclerc is fourth with 138 points.
Szafnauer noted that Leclerc has shown improvement in recent races, despite facing difficulties with the car's performance. He highlighted that this season marks a rare instance where Leclerc's teammate has had a significant advantage over him, which has contributed to Leclerc's struggles.
