Ottawa Redblacks Dismiss Defensive Coordinator Will Fields After Winless Start
The Ottawa Redblacks have announced the dismissal of defensive coordinator Will Fields amid a challenging start to the season, which has seen the team lose all seven of its games. This decision was made public on Saturday following a defeat to the Montreal Alouettes.
Fields was in his second season with the Redblacks, having joined the team prior to the 2025 campaign after previous coaching roles with the Edmonton Elks and Toronto Argonauts, where he won a Grey Cup in 2024. In the recent game, the Redblacks conceded 34 points, contributing to a total of 241 points allowed this season, placing them last in the league.
Jeff Reinebold will assume the role of defensive coordinator, while Nate Taylor will take over as special teams coordinator. Head coach Ryan Dinwiddie expressed gratitude for Fields' contributions to the team and acknowledged the difficulty of such decisions.
