Overnight Strikes Between Russia and Ukraine Result in Casualties
Overnight exchanges of strikes between Russia and Ukraine have resulted in civilian casualties, with local authorities reporting multiple deaths and injuries on both sides.
In the Belgorod region of Russia, Ukrainian drone attacks killed five individuals and injured around twenty others, including a young child. Meanwhile, in Kharkiv, Russian missile strikes targeted a high-rise apartment building, leading to two fatalities and thirteen injuries. Additional strikes in Odesa injured eight people.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been advocating for increased military support, particularly for U.S.-made Patriot systems, which are critical for air defense. In response, Ukraine has continued its long-range drone operations against Russian infrastructure, including energy facilities and commercial targets. Russia's defense ministry claimed to have targeted Ukrainian military resources and reported the downing of numerous Ukrainian drones during the same period.
