Oyo Nyimba, Ugandan Boy King, Passes Away at 34

KAMPALA, Uganda — Oyo Nyimba, the tribal king of Tooro in Uganda, has died at the age of 34. His passing was announced on Friday by Prime Minister Calvin Rwomiire Akiiki.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the continuity of the Crown is assured, with a prince set to be revealed as the heir in line with Tooro traditions. Many Ugandans were unaware of the king's illness, leading to shock and tributes following the announcement.

Oyo became king in 1995 at the age of three after his father's death and was known for his captivating presence, even among world leaders. He led through regents until he turned 18. Oyo was a private individual and remained unmarried at the time of his death, often regarded as Uganda's most eligible bachelor. The Tooro Kingdom, one of Uganda's ancient kingdoms, was restored in 1993 after being banned post-independence.
