Packers Activate Josh Jacobs Ahead of Detroit Lions Matchup
The Green Bay Packers have activated running back Josh Jacobs to their 53-man roster in preparation for their Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions. This decision came ahead of a Saturday deadline, allowing Jacobs to be eligible to play on Sunday.
Jacobs had been on the Commissioner’s Exempt List for the first six games of the season due to an arrest in May. The NFL lifted his exemption on Monday, giving the Packers a one-week roster exemption to decide on his activation. With the team having open roster spots, they did not need to make any corresponding moves.
Jacobs is expected to enhance the Packers' struggling rushing attack, which ranks last in the NFL for rushing EPA. He has previously shown strong performance with the team, accumulating significant scrimmage yards and touchdowns in his two seasons. Additionally, the Packers promoted wide receiver Coleman Owen from the practice squad and activated defensive tackle Jordon Riley from the physically unable to perform list.
