Packers' Coaching Changes Yield Positive Results Early in the Season
The Green Bay Packers have made notable changes to their coaching staff this offseason, replacing two coordinators. Six weeks into the season, the team's defense and special teams have shown marked improvement.
Head coach Matt LaFleur, who has faced criticism for previous coaching hires, has seen positive outcomes from his recent appointments. Defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, previously with the Philadelphia Eagles, has led the defense to impressive performances, including allowing only seven points to the Chicago Bears and 13 points to the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers currently rank 12th in EPA per play and eighth in defensive DVOA.
Additionally, special teams coordinator Cam Achord has made a significant impact, improving the unit's execution and performance. Despite some early struggles, rookie kicker Trey Smack rebounded to successfully convert all five of his kicks against the Cowboys. Overall, the early results suggest that LaFleur's recent hires are positively influencing the team's performance.
