Packers GM Expects Josh Jacobs to Play This Season

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has indicated that he anticipates running back Josh Jacobs will be part of the team this season. Jacobs is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list following charges of misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property related to an incident at his home in May.

Gutekunst noted that the team is prepared for any outcome as the legal process unfolds. He mentioned that the NFL has not yet issued a suspension for Jacobs, who is unable to practice or play while on the exempt list. The Packers have not reviewed the surveillance video referenced in the police report, which allegedly supports the claims made by the alleged victim.

Jacobs, who signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers in March 2024, has accumulated 2,258 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns over two seasons. He was also recognized by his teammates as one of the offensive captains last season.
