Jacobs has been placed on the commissioner's exempt list following criminal charges, including misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property. The charges are based on testimony from a woman who alleged that Jacobs assaulted her in his garage.

While Jacobs is under contract until 2027 and can use the team facility, he is not allowed to practice or participate in games during this period. Head coach Matt LaFleur expressed his support for Jacobs, emphasizing trust in the player's account of the situation as the legal process unfolds.
