Packers' MarShawn Lloyd Set to Become RB1 for 2026 Season

The Green Bay Packers are anticipating that MarShawn Lloyd will step into the role of RB1 as they approach the 2026 season. This expectation grew after Josh Jacobs faced legal troubles, including a domestic incident that resulted in his arrest and subsequent placement on the commissioner's exempt list.

Prior to these developments, Jacobs, a 28-year-old running back, had already been dealing with injuries. Lloyd, selected by the Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft, has limited experience at the NFL level, having played only 10 snaps due to various injuries throughout his career.

Despite his lack of proven performance, the Packers are hopeful that Lloyd's skills from his time at USC will translate effectively to the NFL. To bolster their running back options, they also acquired Kaleb Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers, indicating a cautious approach to their backfield strategy.
