Packers Release Bo Melton, Plan to Re-sign for Practice Squad
The Green Bay Packers have made a notable roster decision by releasing receiver Bo Melton on Friday. However, this move is part of a broader strategy.
Reports indicate that Melton is expected to rejoin the team on the practice squad and could be elevated to the active roster for the upcoming Week 1 game against the Vikings. As a seventh-round draft pick in 2022, Melton has become a vested veteran, allowing him to bypass waivers when moving to the practice squad.
Last season, Melton participated in 16 games, recording four receptions for 107 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed five carries for 35 yards and was involved in 47 percent of special teams plays and 10 percent of offensive snaps.
