Packers' Rookie Kicker Trey Smack Impresses in Preseason
The Green Bay Packers selected kicker Trey Smack in the sixth round of the draft this year, subsequently releasing veterans Brandon McManus and Lucas Havrisik, leaving Smack as the sole kicker on the team.
In his first two preseason games, Smack has demonstrated his skills, successfully making four field goals, including a long of 59 yards, in his latest outing. Previously, he converted all three of his attempts, with a 58-yarder among them.
Head coach Matt LaFleur expressed his satisfaction with Smack's performance, noting the importance of consistency in the NFL. Smack is the only kicker drafted this year, and while selecting a kicker can be risky, LaFleur remains optimistic about the decision.
