Packers Waive Rookie QB Kyron Drones After Preseason Game
The Green Bay Packers have waived undrafted rookie quarterback Kyron Drones after he struggled in the preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Drones, who was competing for the QB3 position, was sacked three times and did not complete any of his pass attempts, resulting in a low passer rating of 39.6.
With Drones' departure, the Packers now have three quarterbacks on their roster: starter Jordan Love, veteran Tyrod Taylor, and second-year player Kyle McCord. McCord had a notable performance in the same game, completing 12 of 16 passes for 102 yards and achieving a passer rating of 91.1.
The Packers must now decide whether to add a fourth quarterback or allow McCord to take on more reps as they prepare for the upcoming regular season. Drones will enter the waiver process, and if he clears, he will be available to sign with any NFL team.
