Padres Designate Blake Hunt for Assignment as Roster Adjustments Continue

The San Diego Padres have designated catcher Blake Hunt for assignment as part of recent roster changes. This decision comes after right-hander Nick Pivetta was reinstated from the 60-day injured list, necessitating an active roster adjustment.

To accommodate Pivetta, fellow pitcher Jhony Brito was optioned to Triple-A El Paso. Hunt, who joined the Padres on a minor league deal, had a brief stint in the major leagues earlier this season, making only three plate appearances without a hit.

With the return of catchers Freddy Fermin and Luis Campusano from the injured list, Hunt's position on the team became untenable. He will be placed on waivers, and despite limited major league experience, his minor league performance has been more promising, suggesting he may attract interest from other teams.
