Padres Trade for Hunter Stratton, Place Jason Adam on 60-Day IL

The San Diego Padres have traded for right-hander Hunter Stratton from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for minor league pitcher Andrew Moore. Both players will be assigned to Triple-A, and to accommodate Stratton, the Padres have moved Jason Adam from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL.

This marks the third trade for Stratton in just over a year, having previously been dealt from the Pirates to the Braves and then back to Pittsburgh. He made only two major league appearances for the Pirates before being designated for assignment.

Stratton will serve as a depth option for the Padres' bullpen, which has remained stable despite trade speculation. He has a 5.24 ERA over the last two seasons in the majors, while performing better in Triple-A this year with a 3.31 ERA. Meanwhile, Andrew Moore, who is not the former Mariners pitcher, has yet to make his MLB debut and has struggled in Triple-A with a 7.02 ERA. Jason Adam, sidelined since late June due to a shoulder strain, is expected to be out until at least late August.
