Pakistan Cricketers Face Potential Two-Year Ban for Unsanctioned League Participation

Over a dozen former cricketers from Pakistan are at risk of receiving two-year bans from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after participating in an unsanctioned T20 league in Zambia. The tournament, known as the Asian Legends League, was interrupted following a statement from the Zambia Cricket Union, which clarified that the event was not officially sanctioned.

The PCB has expressed serious concern regarding the involvement of its former players, warning that those who participated without proper approvals could face disciplinary measures. Notable players such as Mohammad Hafeez and Sohail Tanvir traveled to Lusaka but did not compete after realizing the lack of necessary endorsements. However, several others reportedly took part in matches.

The PCB indicated that players found guilty of participating in the unsanctioned event could face significant penalties, including a two-year prohibition from receiving No Objection Certificates for overseas cricket activities and ineligibility for various roles within the PCB. Reports have also emerged of players facing issues related to payments and accommodations during the tournament.
