Pakistan Matches Historic ODI Chase Against Sri Lanka
Pakistan achieved a remarkable victory over Sri Lanka by three wickets in the One-Day International tri-series final held in Lahore. This win, which took place on Saturday, marked a significant moment as Pakistan chased down a target of 326 runs with nine balls remaining.
Fakhar Zaman played a pivotal role in the chase, scoring 127 runs off 99 balls. Despite a shaky start, where Pakistan lost Babar Azam early, Zaman formed a crucial partnership with Saad Baig, who contributed 74 runs. The team ultimately finished at 331 for seven in 48.3 overs, matching India's historic chase against England in the 2002 NatWest Series final.
Earlier, Sri Lanka had set a challenging total of 325 for eight, with Kamindu Mendis scoring 131 runs. Pakistan's bowlers managed to restrict Sri Lanka's scoring in the final overs, allowing them to secure their first ODI tri-series title since 2008.
