In a recent interview, Panthers head coach Dave Canales expressed confidence in Young's development, noting his progress from being the first overall pick to leading the team to the playoffs in 2025. Canales highlighted Young's ability to remain composed in critical game situations.

Despite Canales' support, the Panthers have not yet committed to a long-term deal for Young. General Manager Dan Morgan and Executive VP of Football Operations Brandt Tilis are responsible for the negotiations. Young's fifth-year option has been exercised, ensuring he is under contract through 2027 with a guaranteed salary of $25.9 million for the next season, but a more substantial commitment from the team is still pending.
