Panthers Coach Optimistic About Jonathon Brooks' Availability Against Bears
Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks has missed three consecutive practices due to general soreness, but coach Dave Canales is optimistic about his availability for the upcoming season opener against the Chicago Bears.
During a recent practice, Brooks worked on the sidelines with trainers while the rest of the team participated in a non-padded session. Canales indicated that they are monitoring Brooks' progress and will assess his condition as the game approaches.
Despite having missed 31 of 34 regular-season games since joining the Panthers, the team values Brooks' potential as a complement to starting running back Chuba Hubbard. Last season, the Panthers ranked 19th in rushing, averaging 116.3 yards per game, while the Bears defense allowed an average of 134.5 yards per game.
