Panthers Dismiss Defensive Coordinator Ejiro Evero

The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and defensive passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley after starting the season with a 3-4 record. This decision comes as the team aims to improve its performance.

In the wake of these changes, Todd Wash, the defensive line coach, will take over as the new defensive coordinator and will be responsible for calling defensive plays. AC Carter, who serves as the outside linebackers coach and run game specialist, will also take on the role of coaching the defensive line, while Renaldo Hill will continue to manage the defensive backs.

Evero, who joined the Panthers in 2023 as part of Frank Reich’s coaching staff, previously held the position of defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos in 2022. Despite the coaching shakeup, the Panthers remain tied for first place in the NFC South alongside the Falcons.
