Panthers Finalize Initial 53-Player Roster
The Panthers have finalized their initial 53-player roster ahead of the upcoming season.
As part of this process, the team waived several players, including cornerbacks DeCarlos Nicholson and Cam Miller, safety Demani Richardson, and linebacker Maz Mwansa, among others. Additionally, the Panthers released 10 vested veterans, terminating contracts for players such as wide receiver David Moore and safety Isaiah Simmons.
Running back Trevor Etienne and linebacker Bam Martin-Scott have been placed on injured reserve with return designations. Cornerback Tyrek Funderburk was waived due to injury. Furthermore, right tackle Taylor Moton has been placed on the reserve/non-football illness list, while left tackle Ikem Ekwonu and defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton are on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. The Panthers also made a trade with the Chargers, acquiring defensive tackle TeRah Edwards for a sixth-round pick in 2028. With these moves, the team has reached the 53-man limit and will establish a practice squad soon.
