Panthers Place Saahdiq Charles on Injured Reserve
The Carolina Panthers announced on Wednesday that offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles has been placed on injured reserve due to a calf injury. Charles had been practicing with the first team while starters Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis were unavailable.
At 27 years old, Charles spent the majority of the previous season on the Panthers’ practice squad, participating in two games and contributing on special teams.
In response to Charles' injury, the Panthers have signed offensive lineman Jake Curhan and defensive tackle Parker Petersen. Curhan, who has experience with the coaching staff from his time in Seattle, played in 13 games last season, starting one. Petersen, an undrafted rookie from Wisconsin, was previously waived but will provide additional depth following the retirement of defensive end LaBryan Ray.
