Pat McAfee's Alt-Cast for Monday Night Football in Negotiation with ESPN
ESPN is currently in discussions to introduce a new alt-cast featuring Pat McAfee for the upcoming season of Monday Night Football, contingent on NFL approval.
This potential alt-cast follows McAfee's recent announcement as a panelist on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown, adding to his existing commitments, which include a daily talk show and College GameDay. Reports suggest that McAfee's negotiations with ESPN could result in a contract worth between $60 million and $65 million annually.
The Manning brothers' alt-cast will continue as planned, airing on ESPN2 for select games, including the season opener between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs on September 14. If approved, McAfee's team could cover approximately eight games on ESPN2 when the Mannings are not broadcasting, contributing to a more consistent viewing experience. The NFL's approval process for alt-casts is necessary, and while it typically grants permission, it may also impose additional fees.
