Pat Murphy's Journey from Mets Candidate to Brewers Manager

Pat Murphy, who became the Brewers' manager in November 2023, was previously a candidate for the Mets' managerial position in 2019, which ultimately went to Carlos Beltran.

Murphy was recommended for the Mets' job by then-GM Brodie Van Wagenen, who is now his agent. After Beltran's resignation in January 2020 due to the Astros' sign-stealing scandal, the Mets opted to promote Luis Rojas from within instead of hiring Murphy.

The Brewers are currently three wins away from winning the World Series under Murphy's leadership, highlighting the Mets' struggles with managerial stability, having had seven different managers in the past decade.
