Pato O'Ward Prepares for Challenging Freedom 250 Race

Pato O'Ward, driving for Arrow McLaren, faced a challenging start to the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, finishing 13th in the opening practice session held on Saturday. The session was marked by severe bumps and high humidity on the newly designed 1.7-mile street circuit in Washington, DC.

O'Ward recorded a best lap time of 58.2334 seconds, trailing pace-setter Kyle Kirkwood by 0.8590 seconds. He noted that the track's bumps caused significant disruptions, affecting gear shifts and overall speed. Teams, including O'Ward's, had to adjust their setups quickly due to the aggressive surface conditions.

As the race approaches, O'Ward emphasized the physical demands of the 147-lap event, particularly due to the heat and humidity. He highlighted the importance of hydration and expressed confidence in his training to handle the tough conditions expected during the race.
