Cornerback Christian Gonzalez has returned to practice with the New England Patriots, although there are no indications that a contract extension is close to being finalized.

After missing practice for a couple of weeks due to an injury, speculation arose regarding the impact of ongoing contract negotiations. Patriots executive vice president Eliot Wolf stated that there is no new information regarding the contract and that discussions with Gonzalez's representation are ongoing.

Wolf emphasized that neither party has established Week 1 as a deadline for reaching an agreement. Although there was hope that a recent contract signed by Devon Witherspoon with the Seahawks could influence negotiations, progress has yet to be made as the regular season approaches.
