Patriots Work Out Veteran Running Back Jamaal Williams
The New England Patriots conducted a workout for veteran running back Jamaal Williams on Tuesday, although they did not extend a contract offer. This session was noted in the NFL's daily transaction report.
Williams, who is 31 years old, last played in 2024 and spent the entire 2025 season without a team while seeking new opportunities. On the same day, cornerback Al’Zillion Hamilton was signed to the practice squad after also working out with the Patriots.
Williams was drafted by the Packers in 2017 and has played for the Lions and Saints, accumulating 4,122 rushing yards and 1,310 receiving yards in his career. His most productive season was in 2022 with the Lions, where he led the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns. The Patriots, currently at 2-2, are preparing to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, utilizing a committee approach in their running back lineup.
