Paul Seixas Dominates Il Lombardia, Marking a New Era in Cycling
Paul Seixas, a 20-year-old cyclist from France, achieved a significant victory at Il Lombardia, breaking the streak of Tadej Pogačar's dominance in the race. This year's edition featured a challenging 239-kilometer route from Bergamo to Como, with a series of tough climbs that tested the riders' endurance.
Seixas opted to skip the European Championships to prepare for this race, a decision that paid off as he won in commanding fashion. The race began with a demanding first half, followed by the Civiglio climb, where Seixas took the lead with over 2 kilometers remaining. He maintained a strong pace, finishing nearly a minute ahead of Enric Mas, with Giulio Ciccone completing the podium.
Despite not achieving his personal best, Seixas demonstrated impressive power and endurance, outperforming other pre-race favorites. His performance suggests a bright future in cycling, as he continues to improve and close the gap with established stars like Pogačar, who has more experience in handling fatigue during long races.
