Paulo Costa Critiques UFC for Inconsistent Standards
Paulo Costa has expressed his dissatisfaction with the UFC's decision-making, particularly regarding recent title changes and fighter rankings. He believes that the promotion applies inconsistent standards, which has led him to question the treatment of certain fighters.
His comments were prompted by a discussion with Cris Cyborg, who highlighted similar issues regarding Kayla Harrison and Valentina Shevchenko. Costa specifically pointed out the rankings of Alex Pereira, questioning why he remains ranked at light heavyweight after losing at heavyweight and having no wins in that division.
Additionally, Costa criticized the UFC's decision to strip Shevchenko of her title due to injury while not introducing an interim title for the light heavyweight division, despite Carlos Ulberg's long-term injury. Costa has been vocal about wanting a meaningful fight as he approaches the end of his UFC contract, indicating that he will not accept a non-title bout for his final fight.
