Paulo Costa's Bid for Interim Title at UFC 332 Rejected
Paulo Costa has stated that the UFC turned down his proposal to fight for an interim light heavyweight title at UFC 332, which is set for October 3 in Salt Lake City.
Costa, who is nearing the end of his current UFC contract, expressed his desire to compete for the 205-pound interim belt. The UFC 332 event will now feature a main event between Natalia Silva and Wang Cong for the vacant women's flyweight title, following the stripping of Valentina Shevchenko due to injury.
Costa criticized the UFC's inconsistent policies regarding injured champions, noting the difference in treatment between Shevchenko and Carlos Ulberg, who is also injured. He suggested that the UFC's refusal to allow him to fight for the title may be linked to his contract status, as he has one fight remaining and is expected to enter free agency soon. Costa previously won against Azamat Murzakanov at UFC 327 in April and has been vocal about his concerns regarding fighter pay.
