Penn State Football Prepares for New Specialists in 2026

Penn State football is gearing up for the 2026 season with anticipated changes in its specialist positions. Ryan Barker is expected to take on the role of kicker, while Blaise Sokach-Minnick is set to step in as long snapper.

Barker, a redshirt junior, has demonstrated impressive performance, converting 33 of 37 field goal attempts over the past two years, and holds the record for the highest career field goal percentage at Penn State. Sokach-Minnick, a redshirt senior, has gained experience over the last three seasons, having participated in two games each year.

The competition for the starting punter position includes Nathan Tiyce, a transfer from Mississippi State, and Lucas Tenbrock, a true freshman. Tiyce has prior experience, averaging 39 yards per punt in nine games last season. Meanwhile, Cristiano Rosa and Matthew Parker are vying for the backup kicker role, with both lacking extensive starting experience.
