Penn State Introduces New AI Grants for Faculty Development
Penn State University has announced the availability of two new grant programs aimed at helping faculty incorporate artificial intelligence into their teaching practices. This initiative was revealed on September 30 by the AI Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning.
The AI in Institution Microgrant Program offers individual faculty members up to $1,000 to support small-scale AI integration, with a total of 50 grants set to be awarded in the upcoming spring semester. Additionally, the Program or Large Course Transformation Grant Program is designed for collaborative efforts, providing teams of three or more faculty members with grants of up to $50,000 for projects that include experiential learning and innovative assessment methods.
These programs are part of Penn State's broader AI Transformation Initiative, which focuses on enhancing student learning and faculty development through responsible AI integration. Funds from the grants can be utilized for various project-related expenses, including course materials and professional development. Applicants must complete specific training and secure support from their unit heads to qualify.
