Penn State Men's Hockey Coach Attributes Winless Start to Arrogance
Penn State men's hockey is still seeking its first victory of the 2026-27 season after starting with four consecutive losses. Head coach Guy Gadowsky has suggested that the team's previous successes may have led to an overconfidence that is now hindering their performance.
Following a 5-2 defeat to Robert Morris, Gadowsky noted that the team seemed to expect success without the necessary effort. Despite outshooting Robert Morris in the second period, the Nittany Lions were unable to overcome an early deficit, similar to their previous game against Sacred Heart.
Captain Dane Dowiak acknowledged the need for self-reflection among the players, emphasizing that the leadership group must improve. He pointed out ongoing issues such as slow starts and penalties that have contributed to their struggles. The team is set to face Canisius in upcoming games, with the urgency to turn their season around becoming increasingly critical.
