Penn State Men's Hockey Coach Guy Gadowsky Seeks Consistency After Opening Losses
Penn State men's hockey faced a challenging start to the season, suffering two losses during their opening weekend. Head coach Guy Gadowsky expressed mixed feelings about the team's performance, particularly highlighting the stark contrast between their games against UConn and Sacred Heart.
The Nittany Lions, ranked No. 17 in the USCHO poll, were outperformed by No. 16 UConn and Sacred Heart, resulting in their removal from the rankings. In the game against UConn, Penn State outshot their opponents but struggled against Sacred Heart, trailing 3-0 by the second intermission after being outshot significantly.
Gadowsky noted issues with the team's readiness and organization, especially during the early periods of the Sacred Heart game. Despite a brief comeback, the Nittany Lions ultimately lost 6-3. With several newcomers on the roster, Gadowsky acknowledged the challenge of achieving consistency but remains optimistic as they prepare for their home opener against No. 8 Quinnipiac.
