Penn State Men's Hockey Falls to UConn 3-1 in Season Opener

No. 17 Penn State men's hockey began its season with a 3-1 defeat against No. 16 UConn on Friday night at the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs, Connecticut.

Despite outshooting UConn 43-24, Penn State struggled to maintain the lead throughout the game. The Nittany Lions initially tied the game at one, but a late goal was disallowed due to goaltender interference, and UConn sealed the victory with an empty-net goal.

Josh Fleming was in goal for Penn State, while Kam Hendrickson defended for UConn. The Nittany Lions will face Sacred Heart next on Saturday, October 10, at 7 p.m. at the Martire Family Arena in Fairfield, Connecticut.
