Penn State Men's Hockey Struggles Continue with 0-3 Record
Penn State men's hockey has yet to secure a victory this season, currently holding an 0-3 record following a 6-3 defeat against No. 8 Quinnipiac. The game, which took place during their home opener at Pegula Ice Arena, saw the Nittany Lions initially take a 2-0 lead before succumbing to penalties and defensive lapses.
Head coach Guy Gadowsky acknowledged the team's physical competitiveness but took responsibility for their mistakes. The Nittany Lions committed seven penalties, many of which were deemed avoidable, and allowed the Bobcats to capitalize on four of their seven power plays. Goaltender Josh Fleming faced a challenging night, stopping 40 of 46 shots, while the team struggled with puck management, particularly during the second period.
Despite an early advantage, the team's morale dipped after Quinnipiac equalized, leading to a lack of recovery. Gadowsky noted that while the effort was present, the execution was lacking. The team will look to improve as they prepare to face Robert Morris in their next game.
