
Penn State Men's Soccer Begins Season with 3-2 Comeback Win Under Rob Dow
Penn State Men's Soccer kicked off the season under new head coach Rob Dow with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Mercyhurst at Jeffrey Field on Thursday night.
After falling behind by two goals within the first 26 minutes, the Nittany Lions rallied back. Senior forward Amadou Kone scored with an assist from Noah Förster, narrowing the gap before halftime. The second half saw a shift in momentum when Mercyhurst received a red card in the 51st minute, giving Penn State a man advantage.
With renewed energy, Penn State equalized in the 68th minute through a header by Joe Sheridan from a corner kick. The winning goal came from forward Etienne Reck, whose shot deflected into the net, securing Dow's first victory. The Nittany Lions will continue their campaign against Missouri State on August 23rd, broadcast on ESPN+.
