Penn State Tight Ends Brahmer and Burkle Named to Mackey Award Watch List
Penn State football players Benjamin Brahmer and Gabe Burkle have been added to the John Mackey Award watch list, which honors the best tight ends in college football. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Brahmer, who is in his fourth year of eligibility, previously earned Second-Team All-Big 12 honors and was a semifinalist for the Mackey Award. Last season, he recorded 37 receptions for 446 yards and six touchdowns, bringing his career totals to 75 catches for 977 yards and nine touchdowns. He transferred to Penn State from Iowa State in January.
Burkle, also a transfer from Iowa State, had 302 yards on 26 receptions with one touchdown last season. He has demonstrated consistency, making at least one catch in each of his last 16 games. The Mackey Award is named after NFL Hall of Famer John Mackey, who had a distinguished career in the league.
