Penn State University to Hold Active Attacker Training Exercise

Penn State University Police will conduct a full-scale active attacker training exercise on August 16, involving multiple emergency response agencies.

Penn State University Police and Public Safety are set to conduct a full-scale active attacker training exercise on August 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Student Health Center on Eisenhower Road.

This exercise is not linked to any actual threat and aims to enhance emergency preparedness. Participants will include university police, local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services, who will simulate an active attacker scenario using role players and emergency vehicles.

During the exercise, there will be increased police presence, loud noises, and temporary road and parking restrictions around the training area. Access will be limited, and the university advises the public to avoid the area. Normal operations outside the exercise zone will continue, and no PSUAlert will be issued unless a real emergency arises.
