Penn State Women's Hockey Faces Offense Challenge Against Syracuse

Penn State women's hockey is set to play its first away games of the season in a two-game series against Syracuse on October 9 and 10.

The team will be without juniors Grace Outwater and Abby Stonehouse, who are attending Team Canada Women's Team Training Camp from October 8 to 14 as they aim for a spot on the roster for the upcoming IIHF Women’s World Championships in Denmark.

With Outwater and Stonehouse absent, head coach Jeff Kampersal plans to implement a 10-forward lineup and rely on a collective offensive effort. Freshman Sofia Ismael has emerged as a key player, leading all newcomers with six points this season. Kampersal emphasized the need for contributions from other forwards like Lorelai Nelson, Kylie Amelkovich, and Mikah Keller to maintain offensive pressure against Syracuse, which poses a challenge with its strong forecheck.
