
Penn State Women's Hockey Loses 5-4 in Overtime to Syracuse
The No. 4 ranked Penn State women's hockey team faced a tough loss against Syracuse, falling 5-4 in overtime on Friday night at the Tennity Ice Pavilion. This defeat brings their record to 2-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the AHA.
Syracuse opened the scoring in the first period, with a goal from Jackson assisted by Emma Gnade. Despite numerous attempts, including 18 shots from Penn State in the first period, they were unable to score. The second period saw both teams exchange goals, with Penn State's Sophie Morrow and Lorelai Nelson each finding the net, bringing the score to 2-2 by the end of the period.
In the third period, Syracuse regained the lead with a goal from Nea Tervonen, followed by Jocelyn Fiala's power play goal, making it 4-2. However, Penn State rallied back with goals from Danica Maynard and Nicole Hall, equalizing the score at 4-4. The game concluded with Fiala scoring the game-winning goal in overtime. Penn State will face Syracuse again on Saturday, October 10, at 3 p.m.
