Penn State Women's Hockey Seeks Improvement in Close Matches
The Penn State women's hockey team has faced a series of narrow defeats in the early part of the season, losing all three of their one-goal games. This includes two consecutive 2-1 losses to the top-ranked Ohio State and a 5-4 overtime loss against Syracuse.
The Nittany Lions have shown vulnerabilities in overtime, allowing opponents to score the decisive goal shortly after the period begins. In both overtime losses, the winning goals were scored within the first two minutes, with Ohio State's goal coming just 46 seconds into the period.
As the team prepares to host Lindenwood this weekend, head coach Jeff Kampersal emphasized the importance of tightening their defense and maintaining puck possession. Lindenwood, under new coach Max Gavin, features strong players including Renee Ng, who previously excelled at Wilkes. The games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Pegula Ice Arena, with puck drops at 2 p.m. and noon, respectively.
