Penn State Women's Soccer Loses 1-0 to Washington
Penn State women's soccer faced a 1-0 defeat against Washington on a windy Sunday afternoon, marking their first loss in over a month. The Nittany Lions, with a record of 6-3-4 and 4-2-2 in the Big Ten, struggled against the Huskies, who improved to 11-1-2 and 6-1-1 in the conference.
The match began with both teams exchanging corner kicks, but Washington's defense proved formidable. The game intensified physically, with players receiving yellow cards and multiple attempts on goal from both sides. Washington finally broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Alex Buck scored with an assist from Lucy Newlin.
Penn State attempted to respond but faced challenges, including an offside call against Lily Boyden. The Nittany Lions will return to action at home against Rutgers on October 17.
