Penn State Women's Soccer Prepares for Home Opener with New Strategy

Penn State women's soccer is set to play its home opener, with head coach Erica Dambach focusing on a new attacking strategy. Dambach, who has led the team since 2007 and achieved significant success, aims to shift from a counterattacking style to a more sustained offensive approach.

After starting the season with two draws against ranked opponents, Dambach stressed the importance of playing their own style rather than reacting to opponents. Junior forward Aubrey Kulpa, who had a strong previous season, is expected to play a key role in leading the attack. Kulpa has already made an impact this season with a goal and an assist in the opener against Notre Dame.

The team's defense, traditionally a strength, will also be crucial as they prepare to face Bucknell. Dambach highlighted the athleticism and depth of the defense, which features six rotating players. A win against Bucknell would not only be their first of the season but also mark Dambach's 300th career victory.
