Penn State Wrestlers Achieve Success at Poland Open
Six wrestlers with ties to Penn State participated in the Poland Open, a freestyle wrestling tournament held in Warsaw over the weekend.
Among the competitors, four secured gold medals, one earned a bronze, and another placed fifth after losing in the bronze medal match. The group achieved a combined record of 22 wins and 3 losses, with notable victories including 11 by technical superiority and six by fall.
The standout performance came from a 2026 NCAA national champion, who reached the finals after dominating earlier matches. He won the gold medal match against Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz with a score of 2-0. Other notable performances included victories by Blaze, Retherford, and Haines, each securing gold in their respective weight classes, while Mirasola competed for bronze but ultimately lost.
