Penn State Wrestling Prepares for New Season Amid Lineup Uncertainties
Penn State wrestling is gearing up for the upcoming season, which begins in just over three weeks. Head coach Cael Sanderson addressed the media to discuss the team's preparations and lineup uncertainties.
While several wrestlers' positions are confirmed, including Luke Lilledahl at 125 pounds and Marcus Blaze at 133 pounds, the remaining spots are still up for grabs. Sanderson noted that the team will not finalize the lineup until closer to their first match against Bloomsburg.
A key concern is the eligibility of Levi Haines, the reigning national champion at 174 pounds, who is currently ineligible due to ongoing legal complexities surrounding NCAA eligibility rules. Despite this, the program remains hopeful for a resolution. Sanderson also highlighted the potential of other wrestlers, including Masanosuke Ono and Mitchell Mesenbrink, as they navigate the challenges of the upcoming season.
