Pentagon Updates Troop Death Toll in Iran Operations to 21
The Pentagon announced on Friday that the official count of U.S. troops who have died during operations against Iran has been increased to 21, reflecting two additional noncombat fatalities.
This update follows a report from The Washington Post, which indicated that the actual number of service members lost was higher than previously reported in the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS). The new figures include Maj. Sorffly Davius, who died in Kuwait, and an unidentified Navy suicide.
Additionally, the Pentagon acknowledged a soldier's death from a training accident, bringing the total deaths in the region since operations against Iran began on February 28 to 22. Lawmakers expressed concern over the accuracy of casualty reporting, with some calling the need for a public correction an embarrassment for the military.
