Pereira Seeks Rematch with Gane Following Heavyweight Defeat
Alex Pereira is looking to face Ciryl Gane again in his next fight, believing that discussions for a rematch are underway. This comes after Pereira's defeat to Gane in June during their interim heavyweight title match at UFC White House.
Pereira has indicated that a second bout with Gane is the logical next step, as he aims to redeem himself and pursue a third UFC title across different weight classes. Following his loss, he had criticized referee Herb Dean for not addressing illegal strikes during the fight but is now focused on the opportunity for redemption.
Currently, the UFC has not confirmed Gane's next opponent. Plans for Gane to fight heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall have been delayed due to Aspinall's ongoing recovery from injuries sustained in their previous encounter, which ended in a no-contest. This situation may allow Pereira to secure a rematch with Gane before the end of the year.
