Pete Alonso Discusses Mets Departure Ahead of Return to Citi Field
Pete Alonso, now with the Baltimore Orioles, is set to return to Citi Field for a series against the New York Mets from September 14 to 16. This marks his first appearance at the Mets' home stadium since becoming a free agent after the 2025 season.
During a media session, Alonso expressed that he has moved on from his departure from the Mets, where he was a fan favorite and became the team's all-time home run leader. He signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Orioles after the Mets opted not to offer him a long-term deal.
Alonso noted that he is excited about his current team's playoff prospects, as the Orioles are in contention for a wild-card spot. He emphasized the resilience of his team and their potential to improve as the season progresses, contrasting their situation with that of the struggling Mets.
