Pete Alonso's Potential Game-Winning Homer Ruled Foul Against Yankees
BALTIMORE — During a game at Camden Yards, Pete Alonso of the Orioles appeared to hit a go-ahead home run against the Yankees in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the call was overturned after a review.
Alonso, who had already hit a home run earlier in the game, celebrated as he believed he had just secured his 30th homer of the season. However, home plate umpire Ryan Wills ruled the ball foul, leading to a lengthy replay review that upheld the initial decision. Frustrated, Alonso continued his at-bat but ultimately struck out, leaving the game tied.
Despite his anger towards the call, Alonso remained in the game and expressed his displeasure to the umpire as he returned to the dugout.
